When you’re scrolling through a Facebook feed and you find a link to a product or service that you like, you can now click the link and create a new “like” without having to share the entire page with your friends.

This new feature is coming in response to a recent string of hate speech incidents on Facebook, many of which were sparked by divisive political posts.

This makes it easier to like a Facebook page without having to expose your friends to the accompanying comments, posts and memes.

Currently, this new feature is only available on a small group of mobile apps including ShopSavvy, The Squeaky Wheel and TipsyTuesdays. Facebook says it is rolling out to more apps.

Facebook says it is working with app developers to figure out the best way to introduce this new feature.

Here’s how you create a new “like”:

1. Click on any link for a product or service that you want to share with your friends in a “Like” but don’t want to post a review.

2. Once you click the link, a drop-down menu will appear, letting you choose how you want to share the product.

3. Select “create like” from the drop-down menu.

4. A small window with a QR code will appear. Copy and paste the code into the app’s website and you will be able to share the product’s page.

5. A big, “like” icon will appear next to the link, notifying your friends that you liked the product.

It’s not the best feature — a lot of people complain about having to create shares for every link they find on the internet.

“Sharing a website without visiting the website often results in a poor user experience. Imagine it’s shopping day, but instead of seeing an offer for a great pair of shorts, you get a message that you should go to the P.F. Chang’s website to see what’s on sale,” they wrote in a blog post explaining the new feature.

At least this new feature has some redeeming qualities.

Facebook says it will launch
